Hello. My name is DJ Talbot, owner and operator of Safire Farrier Services.
As a CJF II and an APF-I, working for 31 years primarily across the mid-west US, I am deeply ingrained in this industry and the community of horse lovers, advocates, and professionals as a whole. I also enjoy partnering with the American Royal Association each year to provide education and information to grade K-12 children through their largest educational event, the American Royal Field Trip, cultivating the next generation of farriers.
Most importantly, I value ongoing professional development, knowledge growth, and skills training for all farriers which not only elevates the integrity of our industry’s expertise, but also promotes the general health of the horses we care for. I learned my craft working under the guided direction of master farriers, Don Canfield, Mike Carlson, Bill McDonald and Mitch Taylor, building upon the formal training I received at Kentucky Farrier School. As an AAPF member, I’ve participated in over a dozen continuing education events. and this organization continues to be a large part of my professional growth.
It is important to me to ensure that all farriers have access to resources to continue their education, to strengthen their craft, keep up on the latest techniques, supplies, and business strategies, and simply connect with each other.
